钛白粉的主要成分(fēn)是二氧化钛，它是一種白色無機顔料，具(jù)有(yǒu)無毒、最佳的白度和最佳的遮蓋力，被認為(wèi)是目前世界上性能(néng)最好的一種白色顔料。
钛白粉廣泛應用(yòng)于塗料、塑料、造紙、印刷油墨、化纖、橡膠、化妝品等工(gōng)業。它的熔點很(hěn)高，也被用(yòng)來制造耐火玻璃，釉料，琺琅、陶土、耐高溫的實驗器皿等。二氧化钛一般由钛精(jīng)礦與硫酸酸解反應得到，或由金紅石與氯氣反應得到。二氧化钛性質(zhì)穩定，大量用(yòng)作(zuò)油漆中(zhōng)的白色顔料，具(jù)有(yǒu)良好的遮蓋能(néng)務(wù)，但不像鉛白會變黑，它具(jù)有(yǒu)持久性。二氧化钛還用(yòng)搪瓷的消光劑，可(kě)以産(chǎn)生一種很(hěn)光亮的、硬而耐酸的搪瓷釉罩面。
二氧化钛一般分(fēn)銳钛型（Anatase，簡稱A型）和金紅石型（Rutile，簡稱R型）
